Resumen
FLECHAS MANOSALVA, Jennie Patricia. A steep road to peace. Hallazgos [online]. 2013, vol.10, n.20, pp.245-260. ISSN 1794-3841. https://doi.org/10.15332/s1794-3841.2013.0020.14.
This reflection is a call to recognize the history to generate a commitment to participate in its construction and to transform it through a path of gradual humanization while finding the desired peace. World history has always been surrounded by acts of barbarism that generate questions about the true "humanity" of those who make up the world's dominant species. The barbarism implies ignoring the other's dignity by not recognizing him as an equal; it is a lack of awareness that leads to such regrettable and atrocious events like the extermination of Native Americans, the African slave trade and the Holocaust, which have in common the denial of the victims. But besides these barbaric situations, strong social movements and emancipatory projects that allow to keep believing and to look with hope towards more humane solutions are found in the history of humanity.
