The family constitutes the fundamental social sphere of the organization of the care of children and adolescents; although the notions and roles on care have slowly transformed, there are important changes in the social organization of care. For the research, the qualitative approach was chosen, applying the technique of in-depth interviews to 47 caregivers, 12 men and 35 women, from the city of Bucaramanga (Colombia). Differences in care are highlighted in relation to changes, meanings, feelings and conflicts according to sex and social position. The structural preservation in family care and assigned roles is concluded, with a greater burden of duties for women and the greater involvement of men in the duties in child and adolescent care.
