Introduction. This research work develops a conceptual collection of the facts, aspects and characters that have determined the historic evolution of informative radio in Antioquia. Objective. To develop a conceptual search of the historic aspects those have determined the evolution of informative radio in Antioquia. Materials and methods. An analysis of written documents, books, memories, photo archives, press news and audio tapes, and also information based on field diaries, life stories and, mainly, interviews with people involved in the exercise of radio journalism in Antioquia. Results. The professional exercise of radio journalism became a booster and a protagonist in the history of Medellín and Antioquia. Radio news shows were engines for the growth of the region, because they allowed the citizens to know the management, projects, opinions and proposals of politicians and entrepreneurs. Conclusion. The development of information media in Antioquia was characterized by the positioning of powerful enterprises and the constitution of organized political parties. These factors have influenced the creation of radio shows, among which there are some that survived through the years and some others disappeared due to economic problems.
