Abstract
MORENO CHAUSTRE, Jorge Jair; BOLANOS RENGIFO, Liliam Paola and NAVIA PORRAS, Manuel Alejandro. An approach to software quality practices in SMEs PS from Southwestern Colombia. Rev. Lasallista Investig. [online]. 2010, vol.7, n.1, pp.17-24. ISSN 1794-4449.
Introduction. In Colombia, specifically in the South West of the country, SMEsPS face several quality problems with the software they develop. Objective. To get to know some product quality assessment practices developed by software production companies in Southwestern Colombia. Materials and methods. 4 companies dedicated to develop software solutions were visited in Popayan - Cauca, and Pasto - Nariño. As an instrument to make measurements and analysis, 4 surveys were applied to each company. Results. By studying the results obtained from the surveys, it was inferred that in the Southwestern region of Colombia there are software development companies with limited resources, making their commitment with the quality improvement and assessment, limited. None of these companies have a quality assurance team, but some of them are making some quality processes, though. Conclusions. Those companies are relatively young, and have limited staff and resources. This fact causes fast developments made with limited resources, but despite the fact they make user-request-oriented products, the time dedicated to their quality is not enough.
