Abstract

This article aims to talk about the relation between human rights and human development, to locate, within this framework, the role of the right to education and some of its main challenges. The necessity of advancing in a more explicit and effective correlation between rights, education and development makes necessary a wider analysis of the subject's basis and proposals for new focuses, strategies and education management styles, in order to achieve the goal. The reflection proposed in this text is developed into three stages: The first describes the aspects contained by the state and the society; The second introduces some considerations to be regarded about the role human rights have in human development and the third identifies some tensions and perspectives ofthe right to education within the human development and human rights' frameworks.
