Abstract

MORA RENDON, Sol Bibiana. Management as a productive factor in cooperatives and small and mid-sized associations of agropecuary producers in the Cartama and Penderisco zones, at the South West of Antioquia. Rev. Lasallista Investig. [online]. 2014, vol.11, n.2, pp.51-62. ISSN 1794-4449.

Introduction. The entrepreneurial organizations in farming economy are a part of the solidary economy. They operate under their own economic rationality, which is based on solidarity, commensality and reciprocity. The people that participate in them have as main objectives the satisfaction, the achievement and the update of their necessities, aspirations and desires, by the use of cooperation, mutual help and self-management. Objective. Characterize the economic factor known as management in the associations of small and mid-sized agropecuary producers in the Cartama and Penderisco zones, located at the South West of Antioquia, Colombia. Materials and methods. A predominantly qualitative study is proposed. The study population is comprised by small and mid-sized agriculture and livestock producers who are a part of the associations and the cooperatives, selected according to their real existence, the fact that their economic activity is currently in effect, the institutional role and the leadership in the local and the sub-regional environments. Results. Management in these organizations is characterized by procedures that tend to be simple and practical. This is due to the scarce administrative knowledge their directive structures have, and it is evident in a certain way to make decisions that is, generally, away from the conventional administrative techniques. Conclusions. The self-consciousness of rural economy can be based on its sense of permanence in time, no matter the difficulties it can experience, and that consciousness, definitively, is nothing but a close and solidary relationship between the economic, the family and the local units.
