Abstract

Mayor surgery and particularly cardiovascular surgery are a potential source of stress. This article shows the effectiveness of the psychological preparation in patients undergoing to cardiac surgery. Through a review of the literature we considered the impact, both physical and psychological, of cardiovascular disease and also heart surgery in a patient. The heart is considered the primary organ in relation to the other and for this reason there are a lot of emotional reactions in disorders related with this. We pinpoint the advantages of psychological interventions for surgery and we propose a program which helps to coping and recovery adequately from cardiovascular surgery.
