FAGNANI, Jesica; BARRERA, Gabriela e BENTOSELA, Mariana. Inhibitory Control in Domestic Dogs: What do we Know so Far?. Av. Psicol. Latinoam. [online]. 2016, vol.34, n.3, pp.587-603. ISSN 1794-4724. https://doi.org/10.12804/apl34.3.2016.11.
This paper examines the current literature of inhibitory control in domestic dogs (Canis familiaris). To this end, we previously define the two existing paradigms to evaluate inhibitory control, illustrate them with examples of some tasks that have been used in dogs, and finally detect which are the contributions and the areas not yet studied on the subject in these animals. We conclude that although dogs are a good comparative model, there are few studies that specifically measure this phenomenon, and these results are not yet conclusive. This review will contribute in a general level to the knowledge of inhibitory control processes, and particularly in domes-tic dogs. At an applied level, it is useful for improving learning strategies and training in the areas of assistance and therapy, and in the valuable role as pets, thus being very supportive to human welfare.
