JARAMILLO, Leonardo. Relationship between the right to protest and the deliberative theories of democracy in the works of R. Gargarella. Co-herencia [online]. 2008, vol.5, n.8, pp.227-256. ISSN 1794-5887.

This text analyzes the theory of deliberative democracy from the standpoint of the Gargarella version and the articulation of the right to protest in cases where there is a deficit in the guaranties of rights. First, it begins from the deliberative conception within Colombian bibliographical production; then, reasons taught by Gargarella’s connected ideas of deliberation and impartiality are presented and one more is added; finally the closing comes with contributions from such theory to democratic systems like the ones from Latin America, from the junction between protest as a right and deliberation as a means to propend towards egalitarianism in public politics.

Palavras-chave : Gargarella; Social Protest; Deliberative Democracy; Impartiality; Full representation.
