The rewriting of Homero's Odyssey made by James Joyce is still a topic of discussion. This article points out some clues of reading that allow us understanding that Joyce in fact rewrote the topic of the Ulises in his work. For comprehending in what way he did it, it is necessary to check, firstly, the transformation that suffered Ulises's name in The Divine Comedy by Dante and then, to understand Giambattista Vico's historical glance, since were his reflections that allowed Joyce to rewrite the Homeric topic, but from his own time.
