Abstract

LARIGUET, Guillermo. Practical Philosophy Impure and Normative. Co-herencia [online]. 2014, vol.11, n.20, pp.187-213. ISSN 1794-5887.

This paper is meant to support a conception of practical philosophy as an impure and normative discipline. Impurity requires a more sensitive glimpse to evidence provided by empirical disciplines and revalues the importance of history for conceptual analysis. Normativity requires the abandonment of neutrality demand from practical philosophy. It is argued that impurity and normativity make the practical philosophy an intellectually prosperous discipline. In order to defend this view, a criticism about the wrong way to characterize analytic philosophy is stated. In addition, a distinction between practical philosophy and theoretical philosophy is presented. Finally, it is made clear what features of analytic philosophy I agree with.

Keywords : Practical philosophy; impurity; normativity; conceptual analysis; history; metaphors.
