Abstract

HENRY, Mónica. An American History. Co-herencia [online]. 2016, vol.13, n.25, pp.119-138. ISSN 1794-5887.  https://doi.org/10.17230/co-herencia.13.25.4.

The first histories about the origin of the Spanish-American revolutions and independences were conceived and published before the wars of independence had ended. Some of these works were published in the United States. On the other hand, widelyread US reviews commented the histories of the revolutions published in Spanish America. This article thus focusses on the role US Americans played in the making and dissemination of the incipient Spanish-American historiography. The purpose is to highlight the place of the United States in the double process of the birth of these modern states and their historiographies.

Keywords : Spanish American revolutions; historiography; US publication; historical review..
