Resumen

CARVAJAL CONTRERAS, Diana Rocío. Cucharas and Leticia: two late archeological sites in the Dique Canal. Research advance. memorias [online]. 2013, n.20, pp.189-218. ISSN 1794-8886.

The information for this article came from the research project in course "Zooarchaeological Assessment of shell mounds near Canal del Dique, Initial Phase". We located the points identified by Macchi in 1998, identified two sites with post- Formative materials: Las Cucharas and Leticia. The evidence suggested that these sites are associated with dates between the thirteenth to nineteenth centuries. One of them is perhaps related to the activities of the reopening of the Canal under the direction of G.M Totten. On the other hand, mollusk taxa indicated that people who lived in these archaeological sites, mainly Leticia exploited a coastal environment with diverse habitats of sandy beach, muddy beaches, mangroves, rocky areas, high-energy areas, intertidal areas or habitats with sand-gravel, mixed substrates, and macroalgae prairie.

Palabras clave : Caribbean; archaeology; historic; mollusks; Colombia; Canal del Dique; post-Formative.
