Resumen
SALADINO, Alejandra y AZEVEDO DE MORAES WICHERS, Camila. The museums go one way and archaeological heritage another: the challenges for the continuation of the preservation process in Brazil. memorias [online]. 2015, n.27, pp.107-144. ISSN 1794-8886. https://doi.org/10.14482/memor.27.7536.
The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between museums and archaeological heritage in the context of the preservation of this heritage. The complexity of the problem required us to choose an aspect for analyze: we are particularly interested in observing this dynamic in the context of archaeological heritage classified by declaration. Our hypothesis is that in these cases the gap between patrimonial and museological processes is even clearer. Our case study, the archaeological and historical site of São Miguel das Missões, was declared a National Heritage in 1938 and World Heritage in 1983. First we bring a historical overview of the research and preservation actions developed there. Secondly we bring an analysis of the actions in the XXI century, highlighting the lack of integration between Archaeology and Museology. We take the Heritage Education Project San Miguel Mission: musealization beyond the classified monument (Zanettini Archaeology, 2009b) as a mark in this process and we analyze its unfolding and the proposals submitted at the end of the project.
