The article deals with the topic of Latin American educational thinking through two representatives personalities: Simón Rodriguez and José Martí. The objective of this work is to assess the significance of the educational work of both figures, their authenticity and originality in their context of performance. Previous researching results of the author are retaken on the basis of a review of the complete works of both educators. The thought and the educational work have been confronted with the context that conditioned them. The significance of the expression of thought in relation to education is valued, as the most significant of the continent's educational memory.
