Abstract

PUEBLA, MARÍA FLORENCIA  and  RAMIREZ MATEUS, NATALIA. Reconsiderations, analysis and future perspectives of community museology. Reflections from the case of El Rosario (Hidalgo, Mexico). memorias [online]. 2020, n.40, pp.8-32.  Epub Apr 30, 2021. ISSN 1794-8886.  https://doi.org/10.14482/memor.40.069.4.

In this paper we made a small review about the model known as community museum, and the characterization that in recent times has been granted to these as a successful and feasible formula to apply in any place and community. We analyze the origins of community museology in Mexico and its various programs, in order to clarify certain doubts that may arise when trying to understand this phenomenon in South America. Then, we describe a museal proposal made during the years 2013 to 2015 in the town of El Rosario, State of Hidalgo (Mexico). The case of El Rosario is taken to reflect from the current proposals of the Latin American Museology. The purpose is to analyze certain notions that accompany community museology from the beginning, and discuss them from a contemporary approach. We want to encourage new ways of thinking about the museum phenomenon in the present, and reflect on the challenges facing community museums in the present and near future.

Keywords : ommunity museums; Latin American museology; contemporary musealities.
