This research aims to analyze how navigational aids transformed in Colombia between 1850 and 1930, and their incidence in economics, social and cultural features. Thus, using archival and cartographic documents, I approach to the relationship between economic changes during the nineteenth century and the transformation of navigation; the interest of entrepreneurs in the beacon's construction; the Colombian government agency in the establishment of lighthouses and buoys; and, finally, the participation of different people in the maintenance of aids to navigation against the deterioration caused by natural factors. Thus, this research contributes to the study of one of the elements of the maritime cultural landscape: coast signalization and navigation.
