Abstract

HERNANDEZ AGUIRRE, Enio Armando; BALDOVINO DIAZ, María Rosa  and  MADERA, Isis Arias. Socio-Historical aspects and pharmacogenomics of the Chimila Narakajmanta based on CYP2C19, NAT2, and HLA genes. memorias [online]. 2023, n.51, pp.85-111.  Epub Jan 12, 2024. The Chimilas were characterized by offering resistance to the Spanish during the conquest without being subdued. Their population decreased drastically at the beginning of the 20th century, being considered extinct by anthropologists. The objective of this research was to investigate the health of the Chimilas of Naara Kajmanta (Santa Marta), to know their capacity to metabolize drugs with the CYP2C19 and NAT2 genes and to formulate a population hypothesis by determining the HLA alleles. Blood samples were taken with previous consent to elaborate a hemogram and obtain the genes by molecular biology. The results showed that all have the CYP2Ci9*i/CYP2Ci9*2 genotype indicating that they are intermediate metabolizers and with respect to the NAT2 gene 30 % are fast acetylators, 41 % are intermediate and 29 % are slow. The HLA alleles obtained suggest an ancestral relationship with aborigines from the Pacific islands and indigenous people from Peru, Bolivia, Panama, and Mexico.
