This research aimed to determine whether the application of Phet Simulations improves teaching and learning equivalent fractions. This research is experimental - Quantitative, with control group and an experimental group (Try the simulator Phet). The study population consisted of 40 eighth graders of secondary education of School General Santander de Soacha-Cundinamarca. Of the total population of this study, the experimental group (receiving treatment) consisted of 20 students (11 men and 9 women) and the control group by 20 students (10 men and 10 women). In this case the average experimental group is statistically higher than the control group mean. Ie the achievement of this group improved significantly when using the simulator PHET in teaching equivalent fractions.

Keywords : Simulation; Information Technology; teaching strategy; equivalent fraction.
