Abstract

SANCHEZ MENDOZA, Vanessa. The Well-being of the Youth in the Social Representation of the Elderly. Divers.: Perspect. Psicol. [online]. 2012, vol.8, n.1, pp.39-52. ISSN 1794-9998.

This research aimed to identify the social representations the elderly have on the well-being of the younger people. In order to that, 50 elderly (25 men, 25 women) with a range of age between 60 and 70 years were interviewed and 50 young people (25 men, 25 women) in a range between 15 and 25 years as well. The data were analyzed from the emergent categories after a semiestructured interview with open questions. The results show that the elderly's representations of well-being in the youth are related to: a stable and well paid job, a relationship, access to health and access to education.

Keywords : applied social psychology; welfare and quality of life; elderly young people; social representations.
