This paper discusses some ideas about the category of reflex starting from its over dimensioning and introduction from philosophy. Thus, we intend to approach its implications and consequences in the development of historical cultural psychology. The theoretical reflections that favor this critical analysis are based on the need for new approaches that take into account the theoretical proposal on subjectivity developed by González Rey from a complex perspective. In this sense, the heuristic value of new theoretical constructs is analyzed, such as the subjective senses and the subjective configurations oriented to transcend the limitations of the reflex as a universal reference in the study of psychological processes.
