Abstract
ONATE, María Emilia; MESURADO, Belén; MORENO, José Eduardo and MENGHI, María Soledad. Religious Practices and Importance of Religious Beliefs in Argentine Young Adults and their Parents. Divers.: Perspect. Psicol. [online]. 2022, vol.18, n.2, pp.82-95. Epub June 30, 2022. ISSN 1794-9998. https://doi.org/10.15332/22563067.8203.
One of the ways to transmit religiosity is from parents to children since family is the core of greatest stimulation throughout our childhood. Although there are studies on this topic, there is much to learn about whether the influence of the primary family transmission of religiosity continues in emerging adulthood. In order to determine whether there are associations between religious practices and the importance of the religious beliefs of the person evaluated and those of their parents, a correlational and cross-sectional study was carried out, in a sample of 833 emerging adults from Entre Ríos, Argentina, who were between 18 and 28 years old. An ad-hoc questionnaire was administered showing significant and positive associations were found between religious practices and the importance of the religious beliefs of the individuals evaluated and those of their parents, although the importance of their mother's religious beliefs did not show any association with the religious practices of the subjects evaluated. It can be said that the observation of behavioral and attitudinal models about religion prevails and remains valid even in emerging adulthood, in which the family continues to play a relevant role in the transmission of religion.
