Abstract

Introduction: Childhood traumatic brain injury is one of the primary causes of dysfunctions in the child’s development and neurocognitive processes; it generates lesions at the brain level and in synaptic networks that interfere with functional processes; its deficiencies are heterogeneous; depending on the severity, history and location of the lesion, they may occur temporarily or permanently, even with significant sequelae. Objective: Establish the dysfunctional correlates associated with attention, memory, executive function, language and learning in childhood TBI. Method: Scoping review; 44 selected articles extracted from information search conducted in databases SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE, PSICODOC, EBSCO; PUBMED; SCIELO and REDALYC. Results: According to the findings, we determine the post- traumatic functional processes that are affected in memory systems, attentional system, language, executive function and learning. Conclusions: reaffirms that there is no functional damage standard for the category Cranioencephalic Trauma, because the deficiencies generated by the TBI are differentiated and systemic, reason why the scope of dysfunctional processes in the neurocognitive and learning domains is wide, with greater involvement in moderate and severe SCD.
