Abstract

REY ANACONA, César Armando; OCAMPO ROJAS, Eliana Marcela  and  MARTINEZ GOMEZ, Jorge Arturo. Evaluation of a program for the prevention of dating violence in adolescence. Divers.: Perspect. Psicol. [online]. 2023, vol.19, n.2, pp.191-208.  Epub June 30, 2023. ISSN 1794-9998.  https://doi.org/10.15332/22563067.9385.

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effects of a program for the management of couple relationships in adolescence, entitled “I Love Me, I Love You” which is based in previous research what empirically evaluated prevention programs of dating violence (DV). This program was evaluated through a pre-test post-test design of a single group and a follow-up measurement was included one month after its finalization. The participants were 70 middle-school students (32 women and 38 men), aged 13 to 17 years (M=14.73; SD=1.102). The instruments used to evaluate the program were the CADRI, AADS and STAXI-2. The results show a statistically significant decrease in state, trait and in expression and control of anger, after completion of the program, decreases that were maintained in the follow-up measure. It also showed a decrease in attitudes in favor of DV regarding its manifestation among women, which in the follow-up measure extended to attitudes in favor of such violence among men. In the follow-up measurement, a decrease was also shown in the verbal-emotional type of DV exerted by the partner. These results indicate that the program could have positive effects and that its evaluation should continue with other designs and samples.
