ALVAREZ RAMIREZ, Leonardo Yovany. Preliminary developments on the adults motivation scale (EM1) based on the Mc Clelland motivation model. Psychol. av. discip. [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.1, pp.63-75. ISSN 1900-2386.

The objective of this survey was designing a differentiated and integrated preliminary Achievement, power, filiation and recognition motivational dimensions scale into a group of adults, according to the Mc Clelland social motivation model, establishing its correlations with the age, economical strata and education of the participants and their differences by sex. The scale items set were assessed by psychologists as expert judges and sampled into an equivalent group different from targeted population. Main components analysis by varimax rotation was done, interfactors correlations and validity with CMT and the MPS. The results showed a four factors solution: Achievement, power, filiation and recognition motivations. The correlations with CMT and MPS for validity were positive (r=0.75 y r = 0.79) and stability into retest showed good Alpha Cronchbach coefficients (α= 0.64 y α= 0.87). The correlations with age (0.55≤ r ≤0.61), education (0.60≤η≤0.69) and strata (0.48≤η≤0.71), were averaged and the differences by sex non significant with p< 0.0344. It is concluded that EM1 is a good preliminary candidate scale in assessing social motivations of achievement, power, affiliation and recognition in adults.
