Abstract

CHAHIN-PINZON, Nicolás. Considerations to keep in mind when a test is adapted from one culture to another. Psychol. av. discip. [online]. 2014, vol.8, n.2, pp.109-112. ISSN 1900-2386.

This paper explains some of the most important aspects that researchers should consider when they adapt a test from one culture to another. This topic is very important in Latin American, because many of the tests used in psychology have been adapted from other cultures and languages. The article begins with a brief review of the concept of equivalence, and then focuses on the main biases that can occur when an adaptation is made across cultures. Finally, the guides proposed by the International Test Commission when a test is going to be adapted are mentioned.

Keywords : test adaptation; psicometrics.
