MARENCO-ESCUDEROS, Alled Damela y AVILA-TOSCANO, José Hernando. Burnout and Mental health issues in teachers: differences related to demographic and social-labor aspects. Psychol. av. discip. [online]. 2016, vol.10, n.1, pp.91-100. ISSN 1900-2386.
Abstract This study estimated the existence of differences between burnout episodes and mental health problems in teachers according to demographic and social-labor aspects; 235 high school teachers from four public schools in Colombia were evaluated, applying the MBI-Ed and GHQ-28 through an empiric study with a comparative design. Higher exhaustion and less professional fulfillment were observed in women, unmarried and without children, men tended to depersonalize more. Mental health problems as anxiety-insomnia and somatic symptoms were more common between teachers with fulltime contracts, higher work intensity and lesser professional experience. The implications in individual variables and implications referred to labor context are discussed in the appearance of Burnout and conditions that affect the educator's mental health, it is necessary to recognize the role of these variables to generate educative scenarios and performance conditions that allow the teacher to deal with stress of his task properly.
