Abstract

This study presents the description of knowledge production in health, quality of life, global factors that affect health, health systems, services and policies, structures and processes that differentially affect the health of the population in the framework of the priorities of the 10-year public health plan in Bogotá from 2010 to 2013. The proposals of the Ten-Year Public Health Plan 2012-2021 and the thematic agenda prioritized for Health, Bogotá, 2013 were taken into consideration. Consequently, from the analysis of 1516 documents located in public and private university libraries, health institutions and scientific publications. A database was designed, a descriptive sheet with 140 items and a semi-structured interview. The information obtained was subjected to both quantitative and qualitative analyzes. In different investigations, the topic of public policy is included as a key axis for the production and appropriation of knowledge in the subject of health. Other studies suggest the need to strengthen mechanisms for prevention and promotion of health, attention to specific problems such as communicable diseases that put the health of the population living in the capital at risk. Suggestions are also found for the improvement of the quality of the systems, health services. It is suggested to strengthen health research in the Capital to have updated knowledge in this field and contribute to the development of public health policy for the Capital District.
