Abstract

HEDERICH-MARTINEZ, Christian; PORTILLA MAYA, Sonia Rocío de la  and  MONTOYA LONDONO, Diana Marcela. Psychometric characteristics of the AF5 self-concept scale in College students from Manizales, Colombia. Psychol. av. discip. [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.1, pp.57-70.  Epub Nov 23, 2022. ISSN 1900-2386.  https://doi.org/10.21500/19002386.5517.

To establish the factorial structure underlying the items of the AF5 Self-Concept Scale. Descriptive, cross-sectional study. To carry it out, a validation study of the instrument was performed with 1382 students from three major universities located in a city in the central region of the country. Two out of the three universities were private, the sample was composed by 798 women and 588 men. Adequate psychometric properties were found for the test, as well as a six-dimensional structure of the construct, from which the physical self-concept seemed to be subdivided into two dimensions: physical condition and physical attractiveness, this dimension behaving as two independent factors. The AF5 is presented as a solid instrument with adequate psychometric properties to be used in samples of Colombian college students.
