Abstract

PEREZ ORTEGA, Giovanni; GARCIA JARAMILLO, María Alejandra  and  SEPULVEDA ATEHORTUA, Lizeth Yuliana. Volunteer motivation: an application of the inventory of functions as regards Colombia. Entramado [online]. 2012, vol.8, n.2, pp.50-63. ISSN 1900-3803.

This article, based on "The inventory of functions of Volunteer work -IFV", determines which variables motivate volunteers in Colombia to carry out activities related to volunteer work. The following six dimensions were taken into consideration: values, career, social background, comprehension, protection, and improvement. An analysis of the results shows that volunteers in Colombia are mainly motivated because they can work for a cause which is important for them, and because they can help the less fortunate. These are variables which fall under the category of values.

Keywords : Volunteer motivation; inventory of volunteer functions; volunteer work in Colombia.
