This article discusses the partial findings of a study titled "Juegos en el recreo escolar: un escenario para la formación ciudadana" -(Games during recess in school: a setting for good citizen training)-, which was aimed at achieving an understanding of social imaginary scenarios of games during school recess and their relationship with social coexistence from the perspective of a complementary approach and an emerging research design as proposed by Murcia and Jaramillo (2008). It presents the developments achieved in the two central categories of the study, namely, the playground and the body. As if they were living entities, these two categories undergo constant changes at school towards getting individuals to acknowledge each other's possibilities. A living school where "being in relation to..." is possible comes down to a physical time in space which is limited by the bell, "recess". The paper uses the voice of stakeholders to show the life that is given and taken at school, which can be deemed one of the most standardized impositions to control. Lastly, it acknowledges a proposal that posits that these two mutants are conducive to a free and dynamic school setting.
