Abstract
PINO-MONTOYA, José Wilmar. The internal dynamic of the families of boys and girls in foster homes: the case of Corporación PAN in Medellín. Entramado [online]. 2014, vol.10, n.2, pp.224-237. ISSN 1900-3803.
Objectives: To learn about the living conditions of the families of children and adolescents who are beneficiaries of foster homes managed by the Private Committee for Assisting Children [Comité Privado de Asistencia a la Niñez](PAN, from its Spanish acronym). Methodology: A descriptive, qualitative research approach was used. Preference was given to the review of case studies, using group interviews and a workshop as instruments for gathering information. The interviews were conducted among 57 heads of households served by PAN in Medellín. The results are framed within a review of the components of internal dynamics of beneficiary families, including, in particular: emotional relationships, authority, upbringing guidelines, and roles. Conclusion: It was observed that the families of origin of foster home beneficiaries live under vulnerable, precarious conditions.
