This article is the product of research Dignity Aging: the case of the elderly institutionalized in the Center for Social Protection Bello Horizonte, Bogota. The aims to account for one of the results of research to the impacts of institutionalized elderly, but in turn present alternatives to this method, which has become the first choice for families, given the demographic changes, ignorance to handle difficult diseases, conflicts at home and neglect. A trace of the situation of aging in Bogota and social protection centers is done, and Public and Social Policy for Aging and Aging in Bogota from 2010 to 2025. The research was conducted using qualitative methodology with a case study from the critical-social paradigm and using data collection techniques such as interviews, focus groups and document analysis. Among the findings and conclusions of this article, shows how at the stage of old age appear more strongly unequal conditions that accumulated in aging; making explicit the conditions of poverty, inability to self-sustainability, violation of rights, among others, older people suffering and the urgent need for structural changes in the political, economic and social level to transform the reality of the population.
