COTE-PENA, Claudia Patricia; CORTES-AGUILAR, Alexandra  e  CARDENAS, Greissly. Use of inclusive and non-sexist language: Analysis in a public health institution. Entramado [online]. 2025, vol.21, n.1, e11197.  Epub 30-Jan-2025. ISSN 1900-3803.  https://doi.org/10.18041/1900-3803/entramado.1.11197.

Inclusive and non-sexist communication aims to recognize the diversity of all people, treat them equally, and eliminate gender stereotypes. In patriarchal societies, language is not inclusive and operates as an element that perpetuates inequality. The study aims to analyze the use of inclusive and non-sexist language in a specialized public health entity in Colombia. A document review guide and surveys of administrative and healthcare personnel were used to do so. The results reflect that the use of language in institutional documents, although not loaded with sexism, is exclusionary, frequently using the masculine as a generic. On the other hand, in oral communication, it is observed that most health personnel have perceived at least once sexist and exclusionary comments within the entity, where roles and stereotypes are assigned to people according to sex. Health institutions must train their personnel in the use of inclusive language, promoting neutral terms, and respecting the gender identity of each person.
