Abstract

PAZZARELLI, Francisco. THE IMPORTANCE OF BOILING THE SOUP: WOMEN AND CULINARY TECHNIQUES IN THE ANDES. Antipod. Rev. Antropol. Arqueol. [online]. 2010, n.10, pp. 157-181. ISSN 1900-5407.

The aim of this paper is to analize the position that women and their culinary techniques have in anthropological studies in the Andean region. We consider that, while the offering and consuming of food and beverages have been in focus in several works, the production of everyday food (soups) have been analyzed in very few occasions. We outline a proposal which will permit the reinterpretation of the everyday food production, like critical instances in the definition of feminine power spaces.

Keywords : Women; culinary techniques; kitchen; food; power.
