Resumen

APARICIO CUERVO, Juan Ricardo. The Return to Mulatos and the Peace Community of San José de Apartadó: contingencies and moments of rupture. Antipod. Rev. Antropol. Arqueol. [online]. 2015, n.21, pp.73-95. ISSN 1900-5407.  https://doi.org/10.7440/antipoda21.2015.04.

This article focuses on examining the ethnological record of different moments throughout the history of the Peace Community of San José de Apartadó in which antagonistic social practices are displayed that momentarily disrupt the projects for governing these populations. In particular, I explore different moments in the history of this collective, such as the decision not to abandon their territories and to coordinate their own return as material for theoretical discussions regarding concepts of "the political," resistance and agency. Using the ethnographic record, I present a story in which contradictions, ambivalences and contingencies make it possible to understand the limits and possibilities of these projects for the social imagination of the present. I am interested in pointing out the possibility that populations exposed to the physical and symbolic violence of different sovereignties can still engage in antagonistic social practices.

Palabras clave : Peace Community of San José de Apartadó; antagonistic social practices; humanitarian neoliberal govermentality; ethnography.
