Abstract

VECCHIOLI, Virginia. Uses of Interactive Documentary and Transmedia Technologies in the Recreation of Clandestine Detention Centers of the Argentine Dictatorship. Antipod. Rev. Antropol. Arqueol. [online]. 2018, n.33, pp.79-100. ISSN 1900-5407.  https://doi.org/10.7440/antipoda33.2018.05.

This article deals with the production of interactive digital devices in the representation of mass experiences of violence. To this end, I describe the transposition of the clandestine detention centers that operated during the last dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983) to such formats. I will describe the properties of these devices, the uses given to them and the type of historical and technical imagination they promote. I proposed a reflection of the different dimensions that allow these devices to be configured as "documents" of the catastrophe and considered as enabled to enter the judicial scene as evidence of the violence. The methodology for this work consists of in-depth interviews, observation and participation in the production of one of these interactive documentaries.

Keywords : Argentina; dictatorship; violence; Testimony; virtual reality; visual anthropology.
