Abstract

This article aims to show the evolution of the concept of "asymmetric conflict" from the evolution of modern irregular warfare, to the recent Latin American buildings more relevant, oriented toward interstate asymmetric confrontation. Therefore, this article will analyze, in first place, the concept and characteristics of asymmetric warfare and after that to understand it, in relation to the strategy of prolongued popular war. Third, this article will analyze the way in which state have implemented asymmetric strategies to introduce the discussion toward the situation in Latin America and thus identify key regional contributions.
