This paper develops a description of previous actions, process, consequences and historic importance of the "Battle of the Lower Palace" as the first battlefield where native troops of the Viceroyalty of New Granada, under the Colonel Antonio Baraya amply demonstrated their spirit of freedom against the royalists led by Governor Miguel Tacon and Rosique Popayan, why their effects are of vital importance for the independence of Colombia and its history, since it born our first heroes fallen in battle for their country. We present this battle in the first scenario neogranadino where the Spanish were defeated, giving strength and security to the Patriots that "faith in the cause," continued with determination and courage the emancipation
