International security is a term that has been transforming and adapting to global reality; hence its study has begun to focus on different levels of analysis, and one of these is the region. Concepts such as the Regional Security Complex (RSC) have considered the main safety issues, making it specific to a particular region. This paper aims to explore to what extent MERCOSUR is been constituted in a RSC, after analyzing the history of its formation and the type of relationships established among member countries.
