Abstract
GONZALEZ, Karolina; MORTIGO, Adriana and BERDUGO, Norma. The Shaping of Professional Profiles in Higher Education and its Implications for the Curriculum. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2014, vol.12, n.14, pp.165-182. ISSN 1900-6586.
The competency-based discourse has gradually permeated the higher education institutions; in this way, issues such as curriculum, assessment and professional profiles have been restructured under this approach. However, this skewed and polysemous view has had very little impact on the context and culture of the academic community. To account for this issue, the methodology of this research was constructed bearing in mind the documentary review, drawing several indexed sources, and considering the grounded theory and the constant comparison method as well as the open coding strategy. Accordingly, one of the findings of the research is the need of start thinking about the importance of the training curriculum as an opportunity for change, and its impact on the professional profiles in higher education context, including frameworks for analysis based on social emancipation and gender studies.
