Abstract

URIBE-QUEVEDO, Alvaro  and  ALVES DOS REIS, Silas. System to Track Factions as an Interactive and Monitoring Tool for the User's Particular Style. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.15, pp.245-255. ISSN 1900-6586.

The human face is one of the main communication mean that allows conveying- voluntary or involuntary - information about emotions such as, happiness, sadness, anger or fear. The face expressions have been studied before computer vision became a wide known area of research; however, the evolution of machine vision restarted the interest on face tracking to detect user emotions. Current face tracking techniques use 2D images and depthmaps that in conjunctions with recent advances in 3D user interfaces mainstreamed due to videogames are providing motion tracking tools to gather interaction information from the user. In this project we developed a software application that detects facial expressions related do discomfort within a computer-based working scenario. The goal of this development is to validate the tracking of such expressions using machine vision based on the 3D shape of the face. To validate the results, we performed a comparative analysis between affordable sensors in the market to assess their potential within an occupational health care scenario.

Keywords : face Tracking; facial expressions as a source of user information; interactive tool; monitoring the emotional state of the user; three-dimensional user interfaces.
