Abstract

VIVAS CORTES, Omar; GONZALEZ TOBITO, Jorge Antonio  and  GOMEZ SARMIENTO, José Luis. Distinguishing the Various Forms of Social Organization in Colombia. The Organizations for Development and Solidarity (ODS). Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.16, pp.57-79. ISSN 1900-6586.

Forms of organization for the agency of social issues in Colombia are characterized, specifically for the Departments of Antioquia, Atlántico and Cundinamarca, and their relevant capital cities. This required an identification of available sources, based on grouping criteria in order for the obtained data to be systemized, and this way to quantify and describe types of organization. The research results show that there is a greater presence of Organizations for Development and Solidarity (ODS) than Solidarity Economy Organizations (SEO), and that the OSD are linked with social and environmental issues, as well as issues of the armed conflict, groups which embodies identity traits, such as disabled people, youth groups, women, ethnic communities and minorities, LGTBI people. They also provide that the great national data repositories contain information leading to a general quantification of the social organization modes, and through increased data accuracy for the SEO, and a small detail for the OSD, due to useful information is not recorded to assess their socio-economic contribution, political advocacy, agency-level, financing mechanisms, and operation jurisdiction. It is essential in this respect to draw attention to the existence of public reporting in the observatories and second-level associations which provide data about these issues, although in many instances are not processed.
