Abstract

This article analyzes how gender studies, in specific the Gender Mainstreaming, contribute to the understanding of global security. In consequence, it seeks to identify actions that affect women as subject protagonist and not merely as a subject receiver or international public policy measures. In consideration of the foregoing, it is answer the following question: what theoretical and conceptual contributions make the gender studies to understand the global security in the twenty-first century? Through this question is defined the existence of a gender agenda in the global security for two concepts: the woman as a subject of protection, and woman as subjects of pacification.
