Abstract
BERMUDEZ QUINTANA, Elba María et al. The perpetuation of verbal and psychological violence in the emotional and family relations of adolescents in Cali. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.21, pp.61-80. ISSN 1900-6586. https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.312.
Through the pedagogical methodology of peer education, the research group observed that young adolescent students from communes 6 and 18 in the city of Cali relate to each other with attitudes, behaviors, and verbal expressions typical of a violent, asymmetric, and male chauvinistic culture. The analysis of this problem posed the need to conduct a descriptive-interpretative type qualitative study to explore the roots of these types of gender-based violence, both in couple and family relationships, in two educational institutions in these communes. Thus, two research objectives were established: to examine, through peer education, how conflicts in emotional relationships are confronted and probe into and analyze the management of family issues. The results confirm that there is a naturalization of the use of a violent speech, as well as actions specific to an asymmetric and patriarchal culture, which are established and reinforced in the imaginary of young adolescents.
