NINO, César e PALMA ALVAREZ, Daniel Arturo. The Islamic State's terrorist diplomacy in Trinidad and Tobago. A Geometry of Terrorism approach. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2021, vol.19, n.33, pp.75-90. Epub 11-Ago-2021. ISSN 1900-6586. https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.657.
Based on an understanding of diplomacy and foreign policy beyond the state-centered approach, terrorist diplomacy is understood as a terrorist group's rational conduct concerning international interests in terms of its specific strategic objectives. Thus, this article studies the case of Muslim radicalization in Trinidad and Tobago and the high number of militants from this country in the Islamic State. Based on the push and pull variables and the theory of the Geometry of Terrorism, as well as a review of previous studies, it is determined that the government's repression and mistrust of Muslims and the lack of governance, more than economic aspects, are factors that explain this phenomenon in the island nation.
