Abstract
CUBIDES AMEZQUITA, Jenner Rodrigo; CASTRO JIMENEZ, Laura Elizabeth and GARCIA MUNOZ, Ana Isabel. Comparison of physical conditioning in students of three Colombian National Army schools. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2021, vol.19, n.34, pp.498-517. Epub Apr 01, 2021. ISSN 1900-6586. https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.679.
Proper physical condition is essential for performance and survival in military operations. This cross-sectional study evaluates the physical conditioning of military trainees in three Colombian National Army schools, measuring and comparing the morphological and physiological variables in 120 students (40 per school). The differences were established using the Léger test for VO2 consumption, the sit and reach test for flexibility, hand dynamometry for prehensile strength, and body mass index. Jumping platforms were used to measure in-flight time. Although the Army training plan is standard, differences in conditioning, benefiting the professional soldier schools, respond to their intensity, duration, and frequency.
