Abstract

CORREA-MARTINEZ, César Alberto et al. Legal and socio-legal research. New epistemological strategies for the current global context. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2025, vol.23, n.52, pp.923-946.  Epub Oct 01, 2025. ISSN 1900-6586.  https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.1557.

This article comprehensively and structurally addresses the process of legal and socio-legal research, highlighting its epistemological foundations, methodologies, and capacity to generate transformative knowledge within a context of global problems. Through a literature review, gaps in knowledge are identified, along with the relevance of these approaches in the increasingly broad and interconnected legal field, which is deeply intertwined with social issues. Additionally, the article reflects on the strategic role of legal research in contemporary society, which confronts local concerns from transnational perspectives, focusing, as an example, on the Sustainable Development Goals. It concludes that legal and socio-legal research not only promotes institutional change but also challenges naturalized, national, and purely theoretical legal frameworks, striving to build more just, inclusive, and sustainable models of law.

Keywords : epistemology of law; interdisciplinary research; law; legal methodology; Sustainable Development Goals.
