ESTRADA-CELY, Gloria Elena; VALENCIA-AGUIRRE, Sonia e VEGA-LUGO, Wilson Octavio. Prevalence of tuberculosis in primates in captivity in the municipality of Florencia, Caquetá. Ces. Med. Vet. Zootec. [online]. 2011, vol.6, n.2, pp.61-72. ISSN 1900-9607.
In the city of Florencia (Caquetá, Colombia), intradermal tuberculosis skin tests (tuberculization) were performed on 20 specimens of adult primates of the species Lagothrix lagothricha, Áteles belzebuth, Aotus vociferans, Cebus paella, Cebus albifrons, Saimirí sciureus and Saguinus fuscicollis held captive by some villagers. Each specimen was intradermally inoculated with 0.1 ml of purified protein derivative (PPD skin test) in the abdominal región, and monitored at 24, 48 and 72 hours. At the end of monitoring, none of the specimens demonstrated a positive reaction to the test, which determines the non-prevalence of tuberculosis within the sampled population.
