Abstract

MENDEZ SAYAGO, Jhon Alexander; CARRENO SAYAGO, Fernando  and  HERNANDEZ ESCOLAR, Hugo Alfonso. Reliability and feasibility for the reuse of Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTP) that operate with stabilization ponds in Cundinamarca. Rev. P+L [online]. 2011, vol.6, n.1, pp.35-49. ISSN 1909-0455.

Waste Water Treatment Plants' reliability can be defined as the system's probability to accomplish with the discharges established by current rules. In this research work, the reliability coefficient as the objective parameter of each purifier was calculated, and the average values of the concentrations of DBO, and SST were related with the objective parameters in order to determine the feasibility to reuse the effluents from the WWTP. Among the WWTP analyzed, the ones from Cajicá, Cogua, Chocontá and Gachancipá, in which the efluents have averages below 30 mg/L in BOD and close to this value in SST, have a potential for being reused for agricultural and environmental purposes, because the variation of the relative cost for the abatement of the contamination to meet the rule would not be high.

Keywords : waste water treatment plant; waste water reuse; abatement cost.
